2022 Black History Month Program at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Northeast OKC

On the last Sunday of Black History Month, Oklahomans celebrated the trailblazers who pushed for change.

At Ebenezer Baptist Church, the community was shining a light on history through music, worship, and art.

Rep. Ajay Pittman, (D)- Oklahoma City, said this is the time to empower the younger generations.

“Young people like me aren’t afraid to say ‘I am Black History’,” Rep. Pittman said. “We are leading now. Our voices are powerful now. But it is the wisdom of our elders that carries us through when we are trailblazing in these moments of despair, in these moments where we see what is happening in our country where history is kind of repeating itself. We have to know where we came from to know where we are going.”
